Pretty Things

Bring a bit of glamour and sparkle to the mantelpiece with these pretty cards.

  1. Simple cutwork forms this pretty little pendant adorned with 'real' gem stones for extra sparkle.
  2. Deceptively simple perforating and cutting forms the honeycomb upon which a golden bee works, framed by an embossed daisy chain. A versatile card which can be made as a folded card or trimmed on all four sides.
  3. A ball of cheerful embossed daisies is a great way to welcome a new home. An outer edge of lace motifs is formed using the four-needle tool.
  4. The lantern and the ivy are traced with black ink then coloured on the back with felt pen. As the pen is used directly onto the parchment, no paintbrush or painting skills are required! A simple oval frame using a four-needle tool finishes the design.
  5. This delicate summer hat is traced with white ink, then coloured on the back with felt pen, directly onto the parchment. A delicate lace edging is created using the four-needle tool with scalloped edge using the semi-circle-tool.
  6. Send a tuneful birthday greeting with this old gramophone. The design is traced with white ink and the hearts in the border are coloured on the back with blendable pencils.

  7. Who’s a pretty boy, then!  This beautiful budgie is simpler to achieve than you might think.  Easily traced with a black drawing pen, it is then coloured with blendable pencils.  The background uses the four-needle tool.

  8. A very popular pattern when it appeared in the Parchment Craft Magazine, this elephant is certainly pretty but obviously very forgetful – but aren’t we all!

  9. Delicate dragonflies are coloured with blendable pencils.  The border uses a fine grid.

  10. The dreamcatcher is drawn with black pen and the feathers are created by embossing and coloring on the reverse, either with blendable pencils or felt tip pens.  A bold square grid is used for the inside of the dreamcatcher and the border is made with the semi-square and semi-circle tools.  Add a final flourish with some stick-on jewels.

  11. Almost like a flower-and-butterfly patchwork, this design is traced with white pencil and then the outlines are embossed.  The butterflies are coloured on the reverse with felt tip pens and a simple perforation pattern is made on the wings, using the bold square grid.  The same grid is used for the border and the final ‘glitz’ is put on with a gold pen.

  12. Romance blooms even in the antique shop with this pair of Staffordshire dogs, traced with a black drawing pen and coloured on the reverse with blendable pencils. The border is made with the semi-square tool and the tiny daisies can either be embossed freehand, or you can use a motif from the very useful Siesta Grid SPB036L.
